From Sampson to Little Farmer's 5F Festival

We left Sampson Cay, sailed down to Blackpoint and tucked in there for a couple of days. At first we were anchored in the Bay and went ashore to walk the village and find food...cheese, eggs, bread, fruit...could only find bread. Sigh.

We moved around to the south side of the point and stayed there for another couple of days, the weather was better there, and the anchorage calmer.  {Honestly, these places all run together after a while and I'm never sure just where I am at times.}

When the weather was good we left Blackpoint and sailed down to Farmer's Cay with a quick stop in Hetty's land Bay to check out sand dollars for Todd. He found a stack of live ones the size of pancakes but no dead ones. He and rick disappeared for about an hour so I had a "Shower"  that felt good...they are few and far between when the anchorage is busy! LOL

When we gt to Farmer's Cay, C-SOul was already hee. We cruised along the shore at low tide and that was a bit harrowing...8 inches under the keel...but its all sand! And I never touched !!!  We settled here for four days- the 5F festival- First Friday in February Farmer's Festival. Major sailing races, maor money and major I-don't-care-about-tourists BIG boats.

Farmer's is a funny place. To get to town from the western bay, you can walk the 3 miles around the edge of the island or you can walk down the runway and take the shortcut. We walked that way and on our way over to the YAcht Club a plane was landing. we were at the end so we watched knowing he would stop well ahead of us...but he didn't ...he kept coming! He had blown a tire on landing and couldn't get the brakes to work well so he was stopping slowly...in fact right in front of us. We all jumped out of his wy, then helped him push the plane off the runway!

There was great dinner provided for the cruisers and participants at the Yacht Club.  THe next day Gail and  went there for a girls' birthday lunch!  We met the daughters of the owner of the Yacht Club and the four of us spent the whole afternoon talking laughing, and dancing !

We spent all day Saturday sitting on the boat watching the races !  Todd met a kid on shore named Robin Schulz  from Germany and his parents were very interesting people. Andre and Anja Schulz. Todd has been hanging out with Robin for 3 days and is picking up some German and Robin is learning some English words not in his vocabulary lessons---not bad words just alternative descriptions!  They have linked up on their "devices" and are playing games but also spend most of their time on soccer {sure glad we took a soccer ball with us!}  building stuff, and swimming. They are heading to George Town as well, so the kids can stay connected.

Todd spent the evening with Mark and Gail watching the superbowl. Rick and I sat on our boat and had a quiet TV night. his birthday - his choice.

Today we head out to Musha Cay to see the Underwater piano beside David Copperfield's Island and then head to George Town, where my nightmare begins---final preparation for the GT  Cruising Regatta.

Of course there is another blow coming so we need to be somewhere  protected when it hits. what a winter!!
