So,
three steps forward two steps back...
This
morning we tidied up, and got ready to go for diesel. We decided to find a
closer gas station... the diesel cans are really heavy even in the dock carts.
So we walked a few block in the direction that the town office told us but
couldn’t find it so we walked back to the boat and miraculously Mike was there! So he drove Rick up to get the diesel and I
unplugged us from the power post and got ready to leave. We topped the oil in the drive, turned the
engine on and ran it up a little to check the drive. Seemed ok. We said our
goodbyes, hugs all round and we cast off.
So
out in the middle of the harbour I pushed it up to about 1500rpm and the damn
thing started to shake like crazy... the way it did last year when the
alignment was out. So we went back to the dock, and Rick started to re-align
it. He got is all set but when we started it again it still was off, then, he
looked at the coupler. It was completely warped. That’s what it was supposed to
do instead of screwing up the drive or affecting the engine.
So,
here we sit. We ordered the part from England. It will be here on Wednesday or
Thursday. Thank God they don’t have a holiday tomorrow.
No
big deal, just one more little thing to fix and then it will be something else!
We are sitting at a dock that we don’t have to pay for. We have power and
water. Unfortunately we returned the bathroom key before we left the dock. (We
had to lock it in the bathroom so unless the marina owner comes by tomorrow we
have to use our own facilities. Also not a big deal)
It
was bright sunny day today. We worked in short sleeves. It looks like another
good day tomorrow and we have other little jobs to keep us busy waiting for the
part. Mike has gone away with his family for the rest of the weekend, but he assured
us that he will be back to check on us in the week. We considered going up to
the Holiday Inn for the night but neither of us wants to leave the boat
unattended. So we will snuggled down in a little while and watch a
movie...running out of musicals... will have to switch to comedies. Maybe tomorrow I will drag out the dreaded
sewing machine and work on cushion covers.
We
have extended one of the phones for another month because we needed it in case
the courier needs to call to find out where to deliver the parts.
So
another day...
bridge is lit up at night really cool |
