Wednesday
Morning Nov 26
It
rained on and off all night and we are sitting in heavy rain right now. It is
supposed to change to a nor’easter later but clear up. If it does, we will
raise the sails and head further south, to another anchorage. We won’t make it
to Wilmington in time for Black Friday. Darn!!!
So
we just sat through a mini hurricane, this morning and we are waiting for it to
STOP! It’s very damp in the boat but the barometer says we are having good
weather but the wind is gusting up to 30 mph.
And here comes some more...
The
NOAA weather says that the seas are 10-11 feet offshore right now. I hope Moon Rebel got off the ocean
before this hit. They followed us down as far as Beaufort, then headed out the
channel I went into by mistake... they knew where they were going. We are just going to have choppy waves in
here, but we are both thinking of moving down the coast to a smaller, more
protected bay at Mile 144.5. It’s only 15 miles but it’s closer to Florida than
if we sit here!
OK.
Well we didn’t get anywhere today because the winds didn’t let up and neither
did the rain. Tomorrow should be better and we will go out in the morning with the
tide change. That will help balance off the effect of the wind.
The
temperature has dropped back down to the single digits again and we are
hunkering down for the night, even though it is still mid afternoon. Glad I
didn’t take the wool blankets off the bed!
We know it’s getting a bit warmer because the flies are back!
So
hopefully tomorrow will be more informative. I was going to say exciting but we
need to be careful about what we wish for!!!
