February 6
Last night was very rocky. We were in a shallow anchorage with lots of
other boats and the winds were strong all night from the north. Rick sleeps
like a baby when we rock; I wake up constantly to check and make sure we didn’t
drag! SO far our anchor has been really good and we’ve never dragged but there’s
always a first time.
At noon we arrived at New Smyrna Beach free dock. We need to do some
repairs to the windlass [Rick is too old to lift the anchor by hand!] It is a
sucky dock... some idiot designed it with a curve so your beam [centre\ middle
of boat] rubs the dock and your bow and stern stick way out. Whenever some
power boat goes by the wake slams you against the dock. As soon as we fix the
windlass we are moving onto an anchor!! C-Soul should be here sometime this
afternoon. Don’t think they’re going to like it either!
There is a low cloud back creeping down the coast. I sure hope it
doesn’t interfere with the launch on Sunday or I am going to be really ticked
off! Rick went to the fuel dock at the municipal marina dock to top the diesel
and see what they have in stock.
We took the windlass apart and cleaned out the magnets and the motor
armature, and put it back together. It works but the gypsy won’t turn so we
will fix that tomorrow. Another skill we didn’t really want to have!
C-Soul arrive around 4 pm and we helped them get onto the dock, then
finished putting the windlass back together.
And Trent showed up. Remember Brent and Trent with the other Prout? We
rafted up in the Dismal Swamp. They were
on their way to Florida to take Brent’s new Prout home. Now Trent is here with
his own catamaran, MOWGLI, and his brother. They are on their way to Coco Beach
to go surfing. Kids, eh!
So cleaning up leftovers and going to bed!
