February 9, cont’d
So we are
anchored in Cocoa Florida. If we were on the other side of Merritt Island we
would be in Cocoa Beach where all the hip people live, but we’re not. It’s
pouring rain and thunderstorms right now...that’s why the launch was cancelled.
But before it started we decided to go to the grocery
store and get some stuff we needed. We got halfway across the river and it
started to rain. But it was warm so no big deal. We were wearing shorts and
sandals and our [not waterproof] jackets, and we had to walk three blocks after
we tied up the dinghy on the other side of the bridge. On the bright side,
there was also a T.J.Max right beside the grocery store and I managed to find a
couple of pairs of shorts that fit! That store is a lot like Giant Tiger without
the groceries and beer.
We are back on the boat, dry and warm and trying to
hear the TV over the rain. It’s supposed to stop in 10 minutes. I know that
sounds odd but they are pretty accurate about the forecasts down here. I guess
the winds are a lot more predictable. Tomorrow is supposed to be windy from the
Northwest but we will be heading southeast so we don’t care! We might even put up a sail!
