Yesterday we went to the beach to hear a talk by the SSCA
[Seven Seas Cruising Association] about anchoring in Florida [if/when they pass
the law] and to convince us to join. Then there was a talk by people heading
to/coming from Cuba, and one for the Great Lakes [whoever they were they didn't
have much information]. We got the call
from C-Soul and went down to visit...they were the very most northern boat in
the anchorage. It took us a half hour to reach them from the beach!
So fridge is fixed...fan motor died and Rick replaced it.
Still working on the exhaust fan from the toilet...it had fallen over and was
blowing but not doing anything. The smell was vile! So we are [slowly] fixing
that.
Batteries are still not working properly but we are not finished
trying things there...more battery cables and re-configuration might help. So
would having someone come on board to look at what we have but...it's not worth
the argument.
Quentin spent all day and last evening with a bunch of the kids, Cookie Monster kids playing cards, having dinner, and a good
time. They brought him home around 8:45.
This morning we had an unexpected visitor...one of the boats
in the anchorage dragged and we caught it just before it hit us. I called on
the radio to see if they were awake and suddenly there were four dinghies coming
from all over to help out!! What a great place this is! We got a scratch on the
bow but that was it. Quentin and Rick fended them off 'til they managed to
throw on clothes and get on deck. We would have done a lot more damage to them
than they could do to us.
Today we go to town then we will be back for the
day...tomorrow Quentin doesn't have any school but I need to go for the GT
primary school, if winds are ok and I can cross. ttyl
