Thursday Dec 4
We left Osprey Marina
today around 9:30 and ran down the river. This part of South Carolina is more
like the dismal swamp than the real one. It is miles and miles of wildlife
refuge and the trees are bare and the day was grey. The clouds and grey day
made it feel colder and we are going to get rain tonight probably.
There weren’t a
lot of houses along the river here. This area is called “the low country” and
it appears to be mostly swamp...at least that’s all we can see from the river. We passed the inlet where we
came into the river 10 years ago so now we are in unfamiliar territory. But it seems that we probably will wish we had gone outside. There doesn’t appear to be any towns between here and Charleston which is two days away. We are at Mile 415 and Charleston is at Mile 460. We will be anchoring in the channel for the next two nights. But we have all the supplies we need.
Tomorrow we will
up anchor early and get as close to Charleston as we can without anchoring in
the dark!

That big tilt rotor aircraft you spoke of is called the Osprey. Wonder if it is named after the place you are at?
