Feb.7 24 hours and counting!

February 7

So today we started out going for breakfast and visiting the farmers/crafters market. We saw some great arts and crafts and got some really good vegetables.

We replaced all the bits of the windlass that we had cleaned yesterday and bit by bit we checked out the components. It worked up to the point where we added the chain and the anchor...not strong enough to lift them,  so tomorrow Rick is going to pull out the magnets again, re-align the and try it once more.

Lots of people came by the dock today to look at the boat and ask questions. Some were other boaters, some were just curious. There were a lot of people fishing on the docks as well, and we watched them catch lots of different little fishes.

I sat on the deck for about an hour, in shorts and a tank top, reading and getting slightly burned. It was awesome! Then we walked to another marina and back, looking for a windlass. It took 45 minutes. A good walk!

So tomorrow we head down to the launch site, and wait for the 6:10 pm launch. I am so stoked for this!!! Wait ‘til you see the pics tomorrow!!!

And there is a TV channel down here called NASA TV which is really interesting!!  In fact we just watched a program about physical fitness in schools here called “Train like an Astronaut”. It helps kids get motivated to become physically fit, make healthy choices, learn to focus on subjects. It’s in 24 countries across the globe. Guess what country it’s NOT in!  RIGHT!  I guess we know better in Canada, eh? ‘Cuz our kids are SO healthy and fit, eh?

OK, off the soapbox, going to bed so we can get to the launch site tomorrow!

Opening the windlass...what's the worst that could happen?

If we break it oh, well, it didn't work anyway!

Haven't seen one of these in years!
