January 31

January 31, Saturday

So, the winds weren’t so bad after all, but we got
We found Kevin and spun him around so he could leave for Miami

Cool Grackles!

They don't have swamp spruce or swamp cedar... they have swamp palms!

Hiding or lost???Great optical illusion... it's in the St. John's River heading out to sea

Morning on Sister Creek

C-Soul and OtherGoose turned and waiting to leave the Fernandina Harbour
up late and had a good breakfast, pancakes and bacon. As we were getting stuff put away, I heard a familiar voice...it was Kevin from Lady’s Island. We missed his getaway but we figured that he was well ahead of us on his way to Miami. Apparently he got stuck in St. Simon Island for a few days. When we were coming into Fernandina Harbour, I thought I heard him calling as well but he didn’t give his boat name. He said he had seen us coming because we had our jib up and he was actually between C-Soul and OtherGoose.

We went for a walk to the farmer’s market this morning before we left and picked up some fresh veggies and some g.f. goodies. Rick got some cookies and a brioche as well. His huge cookies and loaf cost half as much as my stupid mini-cookies and miniature banana loaf. I gotta stop buying GF stuff...

We left the dock at 1:15 and got off to a good start but the tide is not as helpful down here.

The boat smells like fish right now. I cooked some fresh shrimp for dinner and I am going to add them to some fried rice and wild rice, with a salad and veggies for supper. Yum!

We are almost in Sister’s Creek here there is a free dock and we will stop for the night, then tomorrow we will push on. We are hoping to get to St. Augustine by Monday night and see Barb and Dan. YAY!

I have to say, it’s not that much warmer down here but it is supposed to be 72 tomorrow...just a little sunburn would be nice...worth all the cold nights!
