March 4

March 4, 2015

So I was all set to tell you we are “jumping off” to the Bahamas tomorrow but it still depends on the wind direction and the wave heights.  We have to check the wind and weather around 6 am to decide.

But we are down here in Biscayne Bay in No Name Harbour [$20.00 to anchor on the honour system. We could have just not paid but that’s not fair so w did the next best thing...we paid in Canadian!!! [and left a couple of extra toonies for the exchange rate] lol!

We left the dock at 6:40 am and it was NO FUN coming through the river this time. There was no traffic and not many boats parked along the river bank. We followed the fuel barge out and h managed to get the bridges open.

We went outside at Ft. Lauderdale Inlet but the winds were from the south so we had to motor most of the way down. It took us 8 hours to go the 30 miles.

Tonight I took apart the starboard winch and cleaned it. Tomorrow we will spend the day finishing last minute ocean crossing jobs...clean the deck winch, check the rigging , stow the heavy stuff, check the fluids. It sounds like we may be motoring some.

We also have to get the satellite phone activated and it’s not a matter of a phone call. You have to fill in a form and email it back with information, so that needs to be done when we are in internet range, and not bouncing around! Friday will be a good day to cross.

So here are today’s pics.
