March 6-7 the Bahamas!! Bimini

March 6, 2015

NOW does everyone understand why I adore my daughter??? She’s amazing! She can do anything! [She managed to post on my Facebook page to let everyone know where we are]

I am not the hacker that my mother believes me to be and when I set up her Facebook with a password that SHE can remember that doesn't mean that I can remember it.
All that is simple preamble for me to let anyone who can see this know that my parents arrived in the Bahamas. It was a 14 hour sail and only their satellite phone works... But at $1/minute all I got was "We're here, pass it on"

So, my fellow stalkers, our subjects have reached their first destination and will be making their way to an Internet cafe soon to properly update us.

We made it! We are in the Bahamas. Arrived at 7:20 at North Bimini but we didn’t get here soon enough to go inside to the anchorage so we are outside on the hook. It was a very long very boring day. The only wildlife we saw was strange jellyfish... mutated jellyfish with fins!!! Very scary. Maybe this is the dangerous marine life that the flag on the park gate was for. They fly different coloured flags to tell people about the winds, rip currents, fire hazard and dangerous marine life. and yesterday we noticed the purple flag flying.

SO we got up at 1:30 am to go  for a pee but it was too soon so we went back to bed. We were up at 5 [reluctantly] and didn’t want t leave the little harbour until there was a bit of daylight. We got away at 5:50. It took 14.5 hours to get here. Although we did stop in the middle of ocean and take a shower and I did some laundry, it didn’t take very long.

There was no wind and we motored all the way; we tried a sail a couple of times but the only time it was any help was the last 5 miles. AS usual we didn’t make it in daylight and anchored in the dark. With the underwater lights, it helps a little but my depth of field sucks at night with gasses on. I can’t tell how far away the lights on shore are. Basically I watch the depth and stop when we hit 15 feet.

The water is pure blue...like Wisk laundry detergent, like fake blue contact lens colour... so blue you want to jump in.  It was very warm today and we are fried so we are going to be right now! We might read for about a minute and a half.

March 7,

We are at Brown’s marina because they have internet and water, and it was easier. It also looked like it was going to storm this morning, but Amazing Grace a big Canadian cat was on his way out and told us that it wasn’t going to according to his weather info. We will catch up with them later.
Pearl (Bruce and Gayleen) helped us dock and while we were standing there, another couple came by from the Canadian boat beside them, called TIME TO GO from Port Elgin!!!! David and Anne Wilson used to own the Boat Barn in Port Elgin.

We went to Customs and Immigration & we are LEGAL! AND when she converted the length of the boat from metric to standard we are 30.38 feet!! That means we paid $150 instead of $300   Woohoo!!! And we have to stop saying we are 35 feet! But we think the surveyor screwed up. We'll fix that if we ever decide to sell!
Moon set at 6 am

The little boat following is the dinghy!
