HAPPY NEW YEAR 2015

HAPPY NEW YEAR
December 31

So today I finally finished the sail cover. It’s really yellow! We will NOT be invisible!

I worked a bit on the boat and tried to help [read that as hurry] Rick with the freezer cover, but we still have minor adjustments to make and since we only have a week left here he better HURRY UP because he dismantled our helm station while he was waiting for the epoxy to dry and we can’t leave without a wheel!!!  OK, Geoff, you can stop snickering!

We went for dinner with C-Soul. It was also their anniversary. We went to the Dockside and this time I had a broiled seafood patter, but I couldn’t have the devilled crab so I got extra shrimp...worked for me except the damned cook spiced everything so much it all tasted the same ...hot! However, I feel very smug that I ate a plateful of fish [which I don’t really like] because it was healthy [except for the pound of butter it was swimming in] and no dessert. Well, I guess the beer could be classed as dessert.

We sort of watched fireworks from the restaurant. I couldn’t get a good view from the balcony and as I am not a fan of fireworks anyway... we all went back to the boat for a drink.

I had put up a notice on the washroom door and the office door about a sort of party for New Year’s that was completely informal, and BYOB . Rick set up the old PC with a selection of music so we could dance...that didn’t happen.  But around 9:30 people started showing up and we all sat and talked until midnight.

There’s a lesson here... when a boater can stay up that late, he’s been at the dock too long!! “Cool Hand Too” left this morning at 8:30am. I guess they wanted to start the New Year right...on the water.

We are waiting for a water heater and some stuff from Sailrite to arrive, and possibly rub-rail, depending on how long it will take to ship.

And then once we leave here, assuming we can get the Velcro to let go, we will be making a beeline for Florida and the Keys, then to the Turks and Caicos so I can get that contract completed. Then the next destination depends on Liz and Geoff. IF they are coming down for March break, maybe Texas, Florida...?

SO today is clean-up-the-boat-day and get-Rick-busy-on-the-freezer. I still have a turkey breast on ice in the ice cooler unless someone else liked the look of it!

One of these days we are going to take the dinghy up the river just to go sightseeing again. And I need to go into the downtown area to visit the downtown shops here. The Marina’s manager’s wife has an art gallery [she’s a painter] and I want to see her stuff. There are at least five art galleries that I have passed on the main street. Unfortunately, they are either closed, or we’re on a mission when going that way. But last night, a woman in her 70’s [holy s%#@ that’s nearly me!!] told me she walked over the bridge to downtown a few times so I guess I’d better suck it up and do it.  We took the car back on Monday, so the only option is walking!

Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR. Hope everyone is bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready to start another great year. It’s gonna’ be a good one!
