We did it! We riiiipped
that Velcro off and left this morning at 11:00.
We went for a
shower and then one last greasy Huddle House breakfast with Diane &Andy
[see pic]. Then we filled the water tank, unplugged the power and cable. I vacuumed
one last time and wrote out post cards to the kids while Rick put the cables
and hoses away. We said goodbye to Steve and Nancy[see other pic], and Tom and
Nancy and Joe and Mary and Tolen [staff, who said he would make sure the p/cards
got mailed.] Most of these guys will be about a week behind us so they will
catch up and pass us or meet us in the Bahamas.
We started this
morning at Mile 536 and we are at Mile 554.5 and sitting at anchor enjoying the
sunset and a bowl of chilli! [and a beer but don’t tell my siblings...they
think I’ve gone over to the dark side in the last month!]
We have 5 clear
sailing days ahead of us and we could possibly be in Florida by this time next
week, but... we aren’t on a schedule and trying to get somewhere is one sure
way to make sure something screws up! Been there, done that!
We will get up at
sunrise and go as far as we can by 3pm, then we plan a stop so we are not
anchoring in the dark. So this will be a
short message so we can supper cleaned up and get to bed early. It’s So nice to be bobbing on the hook again.
